DAY ONE - 17.11.14
I had an idea but it was too difficult to do so I have changed it and have started on my script but there is still much to add to it.

My story is set in a zombie apocalypse with a guy that travels the ruined roads looking for small towns to scavenge for supplies.

Research Assignment

Task 1
Primary research
Is information that you yourself have gone out and found in order for you to know, and better understand the subject that you are researching, so you can make better decisions about what it is that you want to accomplish

  •          Online surveys.
The advantage to using an online survey to gather information is that they are easy to put together and the information is easy to analyse because of the way it is laid out.
Disadvantages could include if you phrase the questions badly you might not get the kind of answer that you are looking for and end up with irrelevant data.

  •           One to one interviews are a reliable way of finding out exactly what peoples thoughts and opinions are because they can tell you openly and freely exactly what they like about a product and how they think it could be improved using their own words.

  •  But the disadvantage is because you are only talking to one person at a time it can take a long time to get a substantial amount of information that you need in order to get good data.

  •           Focus groups, an advantage to using this method of research is that you can get the thoughts, and the hear ideas of multiple people at once that you could then input into your product making it more appealing to the consumer, and because you are talking to multiple of people at a time you can end up saving time.
  •  A disadvantage is that if you fail to maintain control of the group and you let it get out of hand you are not going to hear anything they say and could miss out on vital information.

Secondary research
Is research that already exists and that has done by someone else. A risk with secondary research is that don’t know when it was done so you don’t know if the information is still good.

  • Books,
an advantage to using books to find the information you’re looking for is the easy access that you have to them at your local library.

A disadvantages could be that even with the easy access to books, it can still be very difficult to find a book that actually has any relevant information, and even if you do find some it can be the very dated in certain subjects.

  • Statistics
An advantage to you using statistics for research is that the results are often formed from a substantially large amount of people making it so the data can be extremely varied or very specific either way helping you make important decisions about the product.

A disadvantage is that it can sometimes be difficult to find information that is relevant to what you are looking for, so you may end up spending a lot of time just looking for them.

  • Reviews
A benefit from reviews these is that you can find reviews on just about everything and they are easy to access, and easy to find on the internet and in newspapers and magazines, and in these reviews you can often find comments that other people have left stating if they agree or disagree with the review giving you a little extra data.
A downside would be that there may not be many people commenting so you may be only getting the thoughts of one or two people making it difficult to make a decision on the direction on the product.

I have chosen to investigate the channel "Dave" and using statistics and a few other methods I am going to answer some of the questions you may have.
  1. The highest viewed show on Dave is a reality TV show called "Storage hunters UK" with 1,225,000 views
  2. When the first episode was aired on the 28th of October 2014 at 8PM and it received an unexpected amount of views with over 1 million people turning over to Dave to watch it.
  3. The show is a spin-off of the previously most popular show on Dave "storage hunters".
  4. The audience generally consists of people that like to watch similar shows such as "pawn stars" and "American pickers"
